Random Food Update

Went to the grocery store…

Everyone is bulk buying toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and clorox wipes.

I’m bulk buying Flaming Hot Cheetos, Cotton Candy, and Snickers Ice Cream Bars.

Who’s handling the pandemic better?

Probably not me….but I am washing my hands before palming all the food into my mouth…so…..winning?

This has been a random food update.

I Went on a Cruise!!

The week of February 2nd through February 9th I went on a cruise.

It wasn’t for vacation, though I did get some time to relax and avoid human contact while I sat by a pool……….but it MOSTLY wasn’t for vacation.

I went to a writer’s conference on a cruise ship.

Was the timing ideal? No, but we booked the tickets long before the first cruise ship got quarantined because of the COVID-19 (or the Coronavirus).

AND we lucked out and nobody on the cruise ship got sick…..though we did have a medical emergency on board…but it wasn’t an illness.

ANYBUT!!

The Writer’s Cruise Conference was put together by author William Bernhardt, who’s become a sort of family friend to my dad.

I think I’ve mentioned before that I write stories? If I haven’t….here I am telling you about it.

My dad basically bought me a ticket saying I didn’t have much choice against going……even though attending the conference meant I would be missing the second week of rehearsals for Kinky Boots….and make it back literally the day before tech week…………..which would have made it extremely awkward if we had gotten quarantined…………………………..but we didn’t.

The conference was helpful. It was informative. I met other aspiring authors and some already published authors.

Overall, the cruise conference was a success and I know William Bernhardt is planning to do it again next year. Soooooooooo, if any of you are aspiring authors and want to go on a cruise and write, this is for you!

(MAJOR NOTE: I AM NOT BEING PAID OR SPONSORED TO PROMOTE THIS. I REALLY HAD A GOOD TIME AND A LOT OF EXTREMELY USEFUL INFORMATION WAS SHARED. SINCE THERE WERE ALREADY PUBLISHED AUTHORS ON THE CRUISE, YOU REALLY GET AN ACTUAL INSIDE LOOK AT ALL OPTIONS OF PUBLISHING; TRADITIONAL, INDEPENDENT, OR HYBRID PUBLISHING.)

If you don’t want to do a cruise, there’s also the WriterCon in Oklahoma. Here’s a link for more information.

I can’t speak for how well this conference is as I have not personally gone….though I am planning on attending this year. But again, not sponsored to promote ANY of this.

Fun things that happened during the cruise (not related to the conference):

  • We couldn’t dock at our second port due to rough seas. That was the only port I actually scheduled an on shore adventure thingy, but we skipped it. This was also when the captain informed us that there was a medical emergency so we booked it to our final port, Cozumel. I did get off the ship when we docked to do some shopping for gifts for those who were covering me in rehearsal while I was gone.
  • One of the shows on the boat (a musical staging of Saturday Night Fever) had to stop about a third of the way through due to “technical difficulties”. They canceled the show and moved it to our last day at sea. We went to see it then…..it was….meh.
  • The median age of those on our boat (not including the crew or entertainment) was 65+……….and over half were Kansas City Chiefs fans. Did I mention we were on the ship during Super Bowl? There were a couple San Francisco 49ers fans….but not many. Also I was one of….4? Yeah, 4 people (including one teenager) who had unnaturally colored hair. There was green, orange, purple (me), and blue……that doesn’t include the senior citizens who think their hair color is passing for natural…..
  • Since I didn’t go off boat for the 2 ports we did manage to stop at, I got a lot of free time to sit wherever I wanted by the pool (which is difficult on days at sea).

Random News, March 7th

Discussing things that happened…

Time to talk about 5 things that’ve happened and state my random opinion about them:

  1. All I will mention about the Coronavirus:
    A) WASH YOUR HANDS, don’t focus on face masks. Face masks are made for those who ARE sick to stop the spread.
    B) Babies, older folks, and those with weak immune systems are at the highest risk. If you are none of these and you feel sick: STAY HOME, DRINK FLUIDS, and SLEEP. You will survive. Don’t be one who spreads it further.
    C) DON’T PANIC!!! The media is not doing a good job keeping folks calm. But don’t treat this like a hurricane and stock up on items. It doesn’t matter!
  2. Onision: I’ve been avoiding talking about this…MOSTLY because I doubt a lot of people who read this blog even know about this….but here I go. YouTuber Onision is in trouble….sort of. There have been years of accusations that he is a predator. He’s had girls under 17/18 years old live in his house with his husband. He claims he did nothing sexual with them. But once they turned a legal age, the girls claim he pressured them into sexual acts. There are also accusations that Onision’s husband grooms underage girls and is the one who brings the girls into the house. I must emphasize: THESE ARE ALL ALLEGATIONS AND HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN TRUE OR FALSE IN A COURT! However….Chris Hansen has interviewed pretty much every woman who has ever been involved with Onision….and they can’t ALL be liars…Anybut, I’m no good at providing all of the information because some channels have been following this story for years. If you want a rabbit hole to fall down, look this up on YouTube. It’s a pretty wild ride…..OH! And he apparently tried to start his own religion when he was 17 years old…weird guy.
EDIT: Originally I said he tried to start his own CULT, but he actually tried to start his own RELIGION. I updated the info above.
  3. Alex Trebek: Some goodish news. Alex Trebek announced this week he has made it to the one year survival mark for his cancer. The one year survival rate is 18%, so this is good news. It doesn’t mean he’s clear. The two year survival rate is 7%. I hope in one year, I get to put a similar post in the news post…but it’s too early to say.
  4. Viral Video: Have any of you seen the viral video(s) by a french…YouTuber? TikToker? I’m not 100% sure which video service he was using, but apparently (and there’s still debate on whether this is fake or not) a French man filled his tub with those Orbeez things. Orbeez are these little balls that grow larger when placed in water. Anybut, this man was doing a video where he filled his bathtub with these Orbeez. When he ended his little video and tried to clean up, he pulled the plug on his tub to let the Orbeez go down the drain. First off, stupid idea. Orbeez are polymer gel balls. Don’t send them down the drain. Second off, if you have enough to fill a bathtub, DON’T SEND THEM DOWN THE DRAIN.
And what do you think happened? Allegedly, the small balls started coming out of the man’s toilet and sink. It even ruined the plumbing of his neighbors and the entire city sewers. And apparently, police are looking for the one responsible….though if people just sent the video too tip them off, problem solved. The case is still out whether this is a real video or fake video.
  5. Rupaul’s Drag Race: FRESH NEWS!! Apparently, one of the drag queens from the new 12th season of RPDR has been disqualified as of Friday, March 6th. The drag queen in question is Sherry Pie (Joey Gugliemelli). Buzzfeed News reported on Thursday, March 5th, that Gugliemelli catfished young actors by convincing them he was a casting director. He requested audition tapes including embarrassing acts including the young actors doing or saying degrading things. One actor even claims to have agreed to pleasure himself on video. Sherry Pie has officially been disqualified and will not be included in the Grand Finale. In a Facebook post, Gugliemelli apologized for his actions writing, “I truly apologize to everyone I have hurt with my actions. I also want to say how sorry I am to my sisters of season 12 and honestly the whole network and production company.”

And that was 5 random news stories.

Anybut, thank you for joining me.

These were MY opinions on each. Your opinions may be different and that’s fine. Now on to more random things!!

I’m Ok

I’m ok.

I’m back.

Things happened.

Life happened.

Life calmed down.

A cruise happened.

Shows were rehearsed.

Shows were teched.

Shows were opened.

Shows were closed.

And now….

I’m back.

And I’m ok.

Holey Ship High In Transit!!!

Okay, I know I said I was going to do a random news post last Saturday, but the personal thing that happened last week kicked into high gear literally the day after my last post.

Some major BS happened that basically took all of my focus and my complete attention away from everything.

And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING!

I spent many nights not in my bed and staying up until 2 in the morning (which normally wouldn’t be a big deal) then waking up at 7 in the morning.

Now I hear you regular 9-5ers snorting in amusement, but let me add this caveat: From 7am-2am I was in a constant state of emotional distress of varying levels.

I should re-emphasize that this distress was not due to something immediately affecting me, but came from trying to comfort and help my friend through a very difficult and surprisingly teetering time.

I am not in ANY way upset about doing this. I care very deeply for my friends and will do everything in my power to help them. But this was something I had very little knowledge on how to solve or help. What I did know was that my friend needed me and that was more important than all of the other things I wanted to focus on this past week.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so…jet-lagged without the actual jet part. I lost track of time. It feels like it’s been a month since this all started.

Out of respect to my friend’s privacy I will absolutely NOT discuss it on here. My only regret is that I have rehearsals starting next week and the week after that I will be on a cruise ship. I won’t be able to do anything beside texting my support and that bothers me.

I’m going to try to make up for this lack of posts next week with a random news post on Saturday, a post a day detailing the rehearsal process, AND a post a day the following week on the cruise which is also a writer’s conference…as much as I can….not sure how dodgy the internet will be…

Anybut……..here’s a tip for the day/life. Communication is the MOST important thing in any and ALL relationships.

MIA

I apologize for being MIA…. even more so than usual.

A very large thing has happened in my personal life that is taking all of my attention and emotional support to get through.

It’s not something that explicitly happened to ME but a very dear, close friend. And nothing is more import to me than my family and my friends.

I will still post random news on Saturday. But until this thing is calmed down… I will be even more sporadic in posting.

BUT!! I WILL still be posting. And hopefully this thing will be calmed down soon.

Cuz rehearsals for my next show start in less than 2 weeks…..and then I’m on a cruise ship/writer’s conference.

Anybut, I guess this has been a random update.

Random Food Update

Okay, this may be really sad…

I’ve heard as you grow older you naturally become lactose intolerant…and I think I am. Food and drinks with dairy are starting to disagree with me on more frequent occasions.

I hope I’m wrong….because I freaking LOVE cheese!!

This has been a random food update.

Random News 1/11

Discussing things that happened…

Time to talk about 5 things that’ve happened and state my random opinion about them:

  1. The royal family “drama”? Okay, true story…….I really don’t understand this as I am NOT all that interested, really, in the English royal family. A lot of Americans are….I’m not. HOWEVER!!! From what I’ve gathered…okay. I get it. Meghan and Harry don’t want to be royals anymore. They want to live half their time in Canada. They didn’t discuss this with his father or with the Queen…I GET IT!! The English people are mad. But at the same time, he was already the wild child. Is ANYONE really surprised by this?
  2. CATS: Okay I PROMISE this is the last time I mention CATS in my random news…..but all of the reviews on YouTube, in articles, and from people I know about it are giving me LIFE!! If you haven’t seen or read any of them….seek out the reviews. They are AMAZING!!
  3. The fires in Australia are still burning. As someone who lives in California and has had friends affected by the yearly fires here….this is scary and sad. This is on a scale far larger than anything in California and it’s tragic how little is being done to help. To be fair, help is growing, but it took weeks for many to even HEAR about this. I remember when Notre Dame was on fire and how quickly everyone (including me) jumped to help.
  4. Awkwafina wins Best Actress Award in a Comedy at the Golden Globes and makes history! She is the first Asian American actress to win the award and I for one say: CONGRATULATIONS!!
  5. Rush drummer Neil Peart passed away on Tuesday at the age of 67. I’m not that huge of a Rush fan, but I like a number of their songs. But it’s always sad when anyone who’s affected many lives passes away.

And that was 5 random news stories.

Anybut, thank you for joining me.

These were MY opinions on each. Your opinions may be different and that’s fine. Now on to more random things!!

Self Care

Happy (belated) New Year!

The new year for me started with some anxiety and I realized I needed a break. I needed a moment to really consider what I want out of 2020.

I’m sorry I didn’t post until 7 days into the new year, but I needed to step away from the computer. I needed to self care.

But it gave me a lot of time to think.

So here are some things I decided:

I’m continuing this blog (of course). But don’t expect a post every day. I’ll try, but if I don’t make it…oh well. Although! For sure expect Random News to become a weekly feature. Every Saturday I will post 5 random news stories and my random opinions on them…BUT I will still avoid certain news stories for the sake of MY sanity.

I’m going to, maybe, discuss some other projects I’m working on…things that are available to all you lovely folks. Including my YouTube channels…for those interested.

There are some other things in the works, but it’s still too early to talk about them/put them out into the universe.

So, overall…..

THANK YOU! Thank you all for making 2019 survivable. I can’t wait to see where this blog goes in the future!
